Djilali Bounaama Khemis Miliana University’s components (Higher officials, the teaching and personnel staff, students) celebrated on Sunday, May 19th, 2024, the National Student Day, commemorating the 68th anniversary of the students’ protest of May 19th, 1956, throughout a rich and diverse program that included scientific, historical, cultural, aspects.
The event was supervised and attended by Mr. ” Aissa Aziz Bouras” Wali of Ain Defla department, companied with: the University officials, deans of the faculties, professors, students, as well as representatives of the local and security authorities, the revolutionary family, representatives of the student associations and scientific clubs, media.
The event was inaugurated with the hoisting of the national flag and the standing for a floral wreath, followed by the recitation of the “Fatiha” of the Holy Coran in honor of the martyrs at the university’s square.
The event was pursued in the Main Conference Hall, where the audience visited the scientific exhibition organized for this occasion. There, Professor “Ben anaya Djelloul”, The Vice-rector of the University in charge of Pedagogy, who was commissioned by the University Rector “Pro. Berabah Mohamed Echeikh”, delivered a speech congratulating all the students on this occasion and praising the students’ role in raising awareness during the national revolution by organizing protests on May 19th, 1956. He also emphasized the current role of students in the prosperity and development of Algeria.
As well as, in the ” Mr. Aissa Aziz Bouras” speech which carried many feelings of pride in this historic occasion, which is a Big Day for the Algerian student, considering the strike of May 19th, 1956, a decisive turning point in the course of the Algerian revolution, which had a great impact in turning the balance of the armed struggle thanks to the great maturity and awareness of these youth elites.
We are also proud of what the Algerian University is achieving today, added Mr. the Wali, and today’s youth are an extension of yesterday’s youth, noting the efforts of the entire university community to advance the higher education and scientific research sector within the policy of openness to the outside world, by the investment in the human resource, in particular. In the same context, Mr. the Wali enumerated the gains achieved at our university in terms of important pedagogical facilities, promising the university family qualitative future prospects and projects in order to establish the Faculty of with qualitative scientific training in this specialty, especially since our department (Ain Defla) will witness the inauguration of some hospital institutions that will develop the scientific research and will surely boost the postgraduate studies in the medical and paramedical field.
The celebratory program also included a lecture by Doctor Tounsi Abderahmane on the role played by students during the revolution of national liberation.
